Eugene “Worth” Ellsworth Bowman, Jr.

    Fuquay Varina, NC: Mr. Eugene “Worth” Ellsworth Bowman, Jr., age 80, of Windsor Wynd Place passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at his residence, with his beloved and devoted wife, one dog & a clowder of cats by his side. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 19, 2024 at Providence Presbyterian Church in Angier. Officiating will be Rev. Roger Korsten and Rev. Rob Gilchrist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

    Worth was born on May 28, 1943 in New Hanover County to the late Eugene and Eleanor Ireland Bowman and raised in Duplin County, NC.

    Worth proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War & worked at the military sea transportation service, Southport, NC. He was recommended for a special appointment to the Navy service academy to become a commissioned officer. Worth was also a member of the American Legion, the Fellowship of Christian athletes, and the Providence Presbyterian church.

    A savvy entrepreneur, he started Bowman Enterprises, Inc. as a mobile microfilm service in the back of a van and grew it to the nations #1 document imaging company becoming the largest in-house user of Kodak film in North America. Bowman Enterprises employed as many as 250 employees. Quoting from the Daily Record in 2010, his hoped-for legacy has been one of “sharing opportunities with the community around him”, after 41 years, Well done!

    Worth loved a good football game, a good steak, good conversation with his friends, and a stiff drink on occasion. He asked to remember him that each of you celebrate his life by raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory.
    Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Patsy, “Pat” Bowman; Daughters Jane Bowman of Clayton, Susan (Howard) Monroe of Clayton, Mary (Stuart) Aylin of Durham; a special bonus son Brian (Kristie) Guy of Lillington; grandsons Logan King, Jack & Sean Aylin, granddaughter Hunter (Channing) Joyner with 2 great-grand daughters Landrie & Aubrie. His very special sister Caroline Ledbetter from Farmville, with niece/nephew Julie Caviness & Wes Craft of Raleigh. Including 4 grand-nieces & nephews, John, Sam, Ella, & Louise. The very special cousin to his heart is John Bowman.

    The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home, 210 Windsor Wynd Place, Fuquay Varina, NC 27526.

    Flowers are welcomed: however, memorials may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church, 14664 NC-210, Angier, NC 27501, the Harnett County Animal Shelter, 1100 McKay Place, Lillington, NC 27546.
