Joseph Weldon Crocker

    Kenly – Joseph Weldon Crocker, 82, passed away on April 5, 2024 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh. Born on August 29, 1941 in Johnston County, he was son to the late James Crocker and Lelia Stancil Crocker.

    For many years, Weldon along with his brother owned and operated Automotive Paint and Parts Inc. in Middlesex. He enjoyed interacting with customers and helping them diagnose and fix their cars. He spent many Mondays at auctions buying used cars. He was an avid Nascar fan and would be sure to record every race to be sure he never missed a race. Weldon loved his family and spending time with them all. You would normally find Weldon outside on his tractor, lawnmower or golfcart. He made birdhouses and enjoyed sitting down with his binoculars to watch the birds. He also enjoyed playing solitaire on his computer, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune every night. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle with his friends.

    Weldon cherished his family and friends. He never knew a stranger and he loved to make people laugh. He was a member of New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

    Weldon is survived by his loving wife, Betty Crocker of Kenly; his children, Angie Clark (Andy Ransome) of Kenly, Jeff Crocker and wife, Renee of Kenly, David Crocker and wife, Crystal of Kenly; grandchildren, Cristin Hardie, Amber Williams, Kendra Byrd, Chase Crocker, Hayley Walston; his great-grandchildren, Tanner Hussey, Jayce Hardie, Landry Byrd; many nieces, nephews, sister-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchild, Sailor Byrd, and his brother, Elmer Crocker.

    The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Kenly Funeral Service with Pastor Danny Creech officiating. Interment will follow at the New Jerusalem Church Cemetery.
