Birth Date: 05/09/1944
Deceased Date: 12/12/2024
Judith Williams passed away peacefully in her home on December 12th while surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Judith’s life was marked by her unwavering faith in Jesus, dedication to those she loved, and boundless kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Judith Williams is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth Williams; her daughter, Angela (Bill) Dotson; her son, Brad (Jenny) Williams; her grandchildren, Libby, Lillian, Boone and Jossie; and her siblings, David Barnes, Martha Pope, and Jamie Barnes.
Born in Wilson, NC on May 9th, 1944, Judith was a devoted wife to Kenneth for 63 years, a loving mother to Brad and Angela, and an adored grandmother to Libby, Lillian, Boone, and Jossie. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, who will forever remember the significant role she played in their lives with fun weekend sleepovers, music filled car rides to church, after school pick-ups with all the best snacks and baking delicious sugar cookies and chicken pot pie with faded family recipe cards.
Judith was known for her intellect and determination, she earned her bachelor’s degree while raising two small children and later an MBA from North Carolina State University. After a successful career as an accountant and financial systems liaison for BB&T Corporation, she taught at Clayton High School and then Johnston County Community College where she retired as the Associate Dean of Research and Planning. Her commitment to education and her strong work ethic has greatly inspired her children and grandchildren.
For 48 years, Judith was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Smithfield, NC, where she and her husband taught Sunday School for three decades. Her leadership extended to women’s groups within the church, where she mentored many on their spiritual journey and inspired countless others. Judith was a committed participant in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for 20 years, a testament to her resolute faith and lifelong commitment to spiritual growth.
While we grieve her loss deeply, we find profound comfort knowing that she is now at peace and with the Lord. We celebrate a life richly lived, overflowing with love, one that will continue to inspire us all for the rest of our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, or Gideons International to purchase Bibles to send around the world. Judith’s memory, ensuring her legacy of faith and service, continues to inspire future generations. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love of the Lord.
