She grew up in Kenly NC graduated from Smithfield Selma High School. She worked most of her life in service roles from working for K-Mart when she was younger, moving to Florida, and then coming back to North Carolina. She worked in the food industry for the past 40 years – at Pizza Hut until she found what would make her the most happy: Waffle House restaurants in Cary on Walnut St and Raleigh on Hillsborough Street, where she met her third husband and spend 37 years with. She was a loving mother first and foremost, she made sure that her son never felt unloved and never wanted for anything. She was a loving and devoted wife to husband Michael from December 9, 1984, until her death.

She was among many things a warrior and battled Juvenile Diabetes from the age of 16, she would have a heart attack, heart valve replacement surgery, strokes and many other health issues along her life. She never stopped smiling ever when it looked gloomy, and she tried to see the best side of things. She fought for her life for 65 years and was a true fighter.

She was preceded in death by Daughter- Catherine Suzanne Jones, sisters Carol Vick and Betty Boykin Parker, Mother- Minnie Viola Hicks, Father- Jesse Wiley Boykin, Mother-in-law Dorothy Anne McFadden, and Father-in-law William Patrick McFadden.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund so that kids can be healthier and not have the long term affects that my mother did.

I know that ultimately family meant the world to my mother and if she was a mother, wife, sister she loved you, but if you were a customer at the Waffle House she loved you also. I know now that I have one more angel looking out for me! I hope you hug everyone there for me and I cannot wait to be able to hug you again. Mom, I Love You more than I ever could tell you.
