
On Friday, December 6, 2024, Robert “Bob” Gregg Crocker passed away at the age of 79.
Born in Wilson NC on March 1, 1945 he was the son of the late Edwin and Lucille Crocker of Pine Level. As a young boy, Bob grew up working long hours on his uncle’s farm where he created a strong work ethic. After graduation from Pine Level High School in 1963, Bob enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in 1964 serving a 13-month tour in Vietnam as well as a 13-month tour at Osan AB, Korea. Upon his return from overseas, Bob was stationed at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ where he met and married his life partner of 53 years, Gerrylee (Gerry) Giovando. After completing his Air Force service, Bob and Gerry returned to North Carolina where Bob began his service with the N. C. Highway Patrol in 1968. He served the patrol for 25 years retiring in 1993. He was then employed with the Wayne County Sheriff Department from 1994-2001. He later accepted a position with the Johnston County Sheriff Department as a bailiff for 13 years retiring once again in 2015. From working in the tobacco fields of Johnston County to serving his country and the state, Bob always had a servant’s heart and a heartfelt compassion for those who knew him.
He is survived by his brother Bruce Crocker (Lynn), and sister Janet Bissette (Autry), his four sons, Gregg Crocker and Patsy, Scott Crocker and Christal, Blain Crocker and Mary-Hope, and Jason Crocker and Kelly. Known as Granddaddy he is also survived by 10 grandchildren, William Privott (Noiralih), Brittany Privott, Gabriel Crocker, Bruce and Caterra Mccelland, Braeden Curran, Jake Crocker Hinton Crocker, Adam Crocker, Allie Crocker, and two great grandchildren, Newton and Vanessa Privott. Brother-in-law John Giovando, several nieces, nephews, and extended family Melanie McCullen, Connolly McCullen Evans, and Logan McCullen Parnell. As well as, over the last several years he has been brought much joy spending time with his beloved companion HK Gaster. Her son‘s Guy Gaster, Travis Gaster and Sherri and her grandchildren Morgan and Jacob Gaster.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Gerry Crocker. As well, he was predeceased by his parents and sister Faye Gardner.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Friday morning, December 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory located at 1500 Wayne Memorial Dr, Goldsboro, NC 27534. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
