Ruth Grace Barbour

    Benson, NC: Mrs. Ruth Grace Coats Barbour, age 93, of Raleigh Road passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in Benson. Rev. Wesley Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Barbour Family Cemetery.

    Mrs. Barbour was born on September 8, 1928 in Johnston County to the late Hubert and Lolar Norris Coats. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leon Barbour, a WWII veteran; a son, Jeffrey E. “Jeff” Barbour; granddaughter, Allison Joy Barbour; great-granddaughter, Brianna, and siblings, Irene Johnson, Katie Stephenson, Ruby Pankey, Joe Coats, Shelton Coats, and Hubert Coats, Jr. Mrs. Barbour was a homemaker, where she shared her life on the farm with her husband. She was a member of Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church in Four Oaks.

    Surviving is her children, Ronald Barbour and wife, Gloria, Roger Barbour and wife, Linda, Jeanette Barbour, Dean Barbour and wife, Debbie all of Benson; grandchildren, Lt. Col. Stephen L. Barbour and wife, Amy, Jeffrey K. Barbour, Denise Sumner and husband, Eric; Shelley B. Johnston and husband, Joe, Amanda B. Lee and husband, Thomas, Amber J. Wise and husband, Brandon, Jeremy L. Johnson and wife, Heidi,; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Dorman and husband, Sidney; several nieces and nephews.

    Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 1:30PM to 2:45PM at St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in the fellowship hall prior to the service and other times at the home.

    The Barbour Family would like to thank her many caregivers and Liberty Home Care and Hospice for their care of their mother. Mrs. Barbour was also blessed with loving grandchildren who helped care for her.

    In accordance with the NC COVID 19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines. Masks are not required for all services but highly suggested.
