Sharon Pounds Weddle

    Sharon Pounds Weddle, aged 66, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 21, 2024. Born on May 27, 1957, in Johnston County, she was the cherished daughter of the late Reverend Dr. Lawrence Pounds and Mary Alva Pounds.

    Sharon epitomized unwavering faith, dedicating her life to serving God. Her ministry extended compassionately to the local prison and nursing homes, touching countless lives. An accomplished musician, Sharon’s melodic piano and captivating vocals graced both the Johnston County Chorale and The Masters Hands group. Alongside her musical talents, she was a diligent businesswoman, owning and operating Sharon Weddle Auto Sales. Sharon cherished her family and her faithful companion, Misty, as well as her best friend, Sharon Jackson. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

    A memorial service to honor Sharon’s life will take place on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Smithfield Church of God, officiated by Reverend Jerry Waters and Jonathan Pounds. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Smithfield Church Of God.

    Sharon is survived by her daughter, Shannon Pegues of Raleigh; brother, Lawrence Pounds Jr., and wife Connie Pounds; sister, Deborah Pounds; grandchildren, Josue Siquina, and wife Vianey Lira-Siquina, Erika Siquina, and Miguel Gonzalez III; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Siquina and David Siquina.
