Selma – Shirley Faye Thompson Capps, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at UNC Johnston Smithfield. Born, March 13, 1951, in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Eunice Little Talton. Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband, James “Jimmy†Robert Thompson; and sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Belvin Webster.
Shirley worked at Carolina Pottery for 15 years, beginning in 2009. She enjoyed clogging and traveling. Shirley was an avid Tarheel fan. She enjoyed watching Sci-Fi movies. Family was very important to Shirley and she loved sitting around the pool and spending the day with her family.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel at Parrish Funeral Home. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in the Price Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Johnny L. Capps; daughters, Melissa Thompson Woodard and husband Robin Woodard, Melinda Thompson Garcia and husband Marco Garcia; step-daughters, April Capps Harbaugh and Ashley Capps Blackwell and husband Ret. SgtMaj Daniel Blackwell; grandchildren, Airman First Class Alexander “AJ†Jacob Thompson, Jackson Harbaugh, and Landon Bordonaro; great-grandchild, Liam Thompson; nephews, Russell Webster and wife Johnna Webster, Johnny Webster; great-nephew, Michael Webster; great-nieces, Bethanie Rains and Sarah Moore; as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
