SELMA – Virginia Edwards “Jenny” Bland, age 70, died Friday evening in the Smithfield Manor Nursing Home. Born February 8, 1947 in Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late James Vance and Myrtle Hair Edwards. Jenny was a retired Special Education Teacher’s Aide, working mostly in Texas. She attended the River Oak Church of God in Selma.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Michelle Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery near Four Oaks. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
Surviving are her husband, of 25 years, Jerry Bland; daughters, Gena Denise Fannin and husband Frank of Houston, TX and Cynthia Lynn Mutchler of Port Lavaca, TX; brothers, Leonard Edwards and wife Velma, James Edwards and wife Becky and Forrest Edwards and wife Vicky all of Princeton and Jerry Edwards of Smithfield; sister, Deborah Jean Stanley and husband Clyde of Richlands and four grandchildren.
