Juanita Stewart Phillips, age 91, loving, Christian mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died Monday, October 25, 2021 in WakeMed in Raleigh. Born July 26, 1930 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late Garland and Etta McLamb Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Phillips; and 3 sisters. Juanita was a member of Unity FWB Church, where she taught junior girls for many years and was a part of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and making holidays and family events special. She worked in the family business as the bookkeeper for 30 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 in Unity FWB Church with Rev. Jay Summerlin officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
Surviving are her son, W. Curtis Phillips; daughter, Dottie Phillips Buster and husband Dave of Raleigh; grandchildren, Sarah Buster Joyner and husband Will and Karen Buster; and great granddaughter, Emmy Joyner, whose birth was the highlight of her final year.
