Katherine Pace “Kathy” Robbins

    Selma – Katherine Pace “Kathy” Robbins, age 74, died Saturday evening in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born August 19, 1945 in Wake County to the late Henry Leonard Pace, Jr. and Hulda Margie Rogers Pace, she was the widow of Wilton Billy Robbins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Pace Miles and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Wall Tyree. Kathy was a member of United Faith Christian Church and was retired for the Johnston-Lee Head Start. She worked in the cotton mills in Selma for many years, until they closed and at that point was able to attend Johnston Community College. There she was able to get her Associates Degree and was able to fulfill her passion, which was teaching children.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Jasper Renfrow and the Rev. Steve Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Cemetery at United Faith Christian Church Cemetery.
    Surviving are her sons, Richard Tyree and wife DeeDee of Selma and Steven Tyree and wife Cynthia of Princeton; brothers, Henry Pace, III and Gwen and Timothy Pace and wife Shirley all of Garner; sisters, Barbara Norris and husband Ed of Willow Springs and Betty Flowers of Brundidge, AL; brother-in-law, Kevin Miles of Colorado; seven grandchildren, Ricky Tyree, David Tyree, Jonathan Creech, Amy Overby, Amber Minshew, Taylor Eatmon and Nick Tyree and nine great-grandchildren.
    The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Parrish Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her son, Richard, 1074 Old Moore Road, Selma, NC.
