Four Oaks – Shirley Medlin Johnson, age 74, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 5, 2021, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born November 9, 1946 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late Preston and Ora Bean Medlin. She is preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine Medlin.

Shirley was a member of Faith Community Church in Clayton. She served as a member of the Ladies ministry for more than 20 years at the Four Oaks Church of God. She was also part of the senior Ladies group at Faith Community Church. Shirley enjoyed serving the church, loved a good yard sale but most importantly, loved spending time with her only grandson, Michael, who was the apple of her eye. Shirley was known for her outgoing personality. She never met a stranger and loved everyone she met. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend that will be missed by all those that she loved.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral home just prior to the service.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Raeford Johnson; son, Rev. Andy Johnson (wife Gloria) of Fayetteville; brothers, Preston Medlin Jr. (wife Vickie) of Clayton, Larry Wayne Medlin (wife Doris Ann) of Shoe Heel and Donald Ray Medlin (wife JoAnn) of Kenly; grandson, Michael Johnson (Abbey); and many nieces and nephews.
