Middlesex-Thurman Eldridge Shallington, 76, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Johnston UNC Health Care. Born in Johnston County on July 10, 1944, he was the son of the late Wiley Shallington and Mary Bell Shallington.
Thurman worked as a brick mason and later with Walmart. He was a member of Stancil’s Chapel FWB Church. Thurman proudly served his country in the United States Army.
A service to celebrate Thurman’s life will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2020 in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service with Rev. Fred Crank and Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will follow in the Kenly Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Thurman is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eileen Shallington; children, Lisa S. Weaver and husband, Ricky of Middlesex and Kevin Shallington and wife, Regina of Middlesex; grandchildren, Courtney Weaver, Hannah Weaver, Emily Shallington, and Erynn Shallington; brother, Alvin Shallington; and sister, Margaret Wellons and husband, Dwight; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Shallington and sisters, Kathleen Strickland, Ruth Roberts, and Ethel Shallington.
