Riverwood Rays Rule The Pool, Win 2026 Division Championship

CLAYTON, N.C. — A season of hard work, determination and steady improvement paid off for the Riverwood Rays, who captured the 2026 Tarheel Swimming Association Division Championship after an impressive summer in the pool.

The Riverwood neighborhood swim team finished the season with a 5-1 overall record and won all three of its divisional dual meets to earn the championship. The Rays defeated the Heritage Betas on June 16, the Bedford Sharks on June 30 and the Durant Trails Typhoons on July 7 to secure the division title.

The championship marks a dramatic turnaround for the program, which finished with a 1-5 record just one year ago.

Head Coach Andrew Johnson said the team’s success was built on the dedication of its 115 swimmers, who consistently improved throughout the six-week summer season.

“Our swimmers have worked hard this summer to refine their stroke technique and gain speed to win close races,” Johnson said.

The Riverwood Rays program emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship and teamwork while providing young swimmers with a fun and competitive environment during the summer months.
