SBI Arrests Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer On Illegal Computer Access Charge

MECKLENBURG COUNTY — The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) announced the arrest of a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer Wednesday morning on a charge of illegally accessing a government computer.

Officer Seth Elliot was taken into custody after an SBI investigation determined he allegedly conducted an unauthorized search of a North Carolina license plate registration.

Investigators said Elliot accessed the registration information through Flock Safety Inc. and Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Automated Data Services (CJLEADS).

The investigation remains ongoing. The SBI said it has no additional information to release at this time.
