School Bus Involved In Minor Accident With Tractor Trailer

JOHNSTON COUNTY – A Johnston County public school bus was rear-ended by a tractor trailer, Thursday afternoon. The accident was reported at 2:50pm on US 701 South, between Barefoot Road and Harper House Road.

School officials said Bus 638, assigned to South Johnston High School, was transporting 23 students when it was struck from behind at a bus stop.

Multiple Johnston County EMS units responded to evaluate the students and both drivers. Only one injury was reported, which was identified as minor.

Parents were reunited with their children in the parking lot of a nearby church.

The State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
