Selma Man Charged With 10 Counts Of Child Sexual Exploitation

SELMA, N.C. — A Selma man has been arrested on multiple child sexual exploitation charges following an investigation initiated by a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
On July 10, detectives with the Selma Police Department Criminal Investigations Division arrested Christopher Aaron Whitaker, of the 300 block of South Webb Street in Selma.
Whitaker, age 41, was charged with 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
He is being held in the Johnston County Detention Center under no bond.
According to the Selma Police Department, the investigation began after the department received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Investigators with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force assisted the Selma Police Department during the investigation.
Police Chief Justin Vause thanked NC SBI investigators for their assistance and partnership in the case.
“Protecting children is one of the most important responsibilities we have in law enforcement,” Chief Vause said. “This arrest reflects the commitment of the Selma Police Department to thoroughly investigate reports of child exploitation, hold offenders accountable, and work with our local, state, and federal partners to help safeguard the most vulnerable members of our community.”
Anyone with information related to the investigation is encouraged to contact the Selma Police Department.
