  1. How about checking his record and reporting on WHY he is on the streets in the first place. Sooner or later someone will end up dead and it will be because the law has let this man walk too many times.

    • All judges have sentencing guidelines they have to follow. Sadly, addiction is the only disease we incarcerate people for instead of treating it. Jamie had/has wonderful parents, well off and extremely religious, but addiction doesn’t care about that. With all diseases, some people can’t be cured. I am pretty sure no little kid dreams of becoming an addict when they grow up. We as a society need to realize locking drug addicts up without treatment is not helping anyone in the long run. The frontal temporal lobe is damaged, and this area controls a persons reasoning, social understanding (what you should and shouldn’t say), self-control, attention span, voluntary muscle movements, as well as learning and recalling past information. This is also the area that is affected when someone has most forms of dementia (if not all forms), autism, adhd, strokes and many other conditions. Addiction is horrible. I got my children grown and they are thankfully not addicts but now there are grandchildren to worry about. You just never know….and it happens to good parents too – not just bad ones. Many parents end up burying their child. I couldn’t imagine that pain…
No one wants to be an addict nor the parent of an addict. Don’t ever think it can’t happen to your loved one…..

      • Addiction can’t happen if you don’t ever start using in the first place. He did it to himself and has nobody to blame but himself. He stole from a 70 year old man and that is inexcusable!! He needs to be locked up for a long time to think about how he did all this to himself.

        • I understand that. I watched a documentary on addiction that featured a judge – a well respected judge. They had two wisdom teeth extracted and were given pain medication, which was normal at that time. Within a year the judge was addicted, and stealing money and valuables from family and friends to sell to get money for money drugs. Eventually he lost his job, his marriage, his reputation – everything. All because he became an addict. No one knows if they will become an addict, although there are some scientists and doctors working on the theory there may be a gene or genes that can determine if someone is likely to become an addict or not. That would be great but does present a slippery slope….if detected during prenatal screening, do we give a woman the option of not having the child? If the child has a 98% chance of becoming an addict/alcoholic – and if you look at statistics, most crime is committed by drug addicts or alcoholics and our prisons are full of the same. They are not getting treatment for their disease so they are not going to get better. Addiction damages the brain, that is a proven fact. If you have drank a beer, be thankful you aren’t an alcoholic…. because for an alcoholic, that one beer is the start of a lifetime of hell. The same with drugs. Same with cigarettes and cancer too. I hate addiction, it is a horrible disease, it kills people. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke I don’t do drugs – but I can’t imagine having a disease and being put in prison instead of getting treatment for it. Let’s “lock” people in treatment instead I’d prison to get better and see if that works. Instead of five years in prison, five years in treatment. Even if it works for only 75% of the people, that’s a win. Obviously do it way before they get to 41, if possible, because most people have been addicted for awhile at that age. Hey, it’s just a thought….as I am sure we are all tired of the crime and young people on drugs or alcohol…who eventually turn to old people on drugs and alcohol..

    • You have hit the nail on the head, Whybother. The courts are turning these people loose quicker that the police can put them in.

  2. This guy is 41? Could that be correct. He looks like a zombie. If he is 41 then it looks like he has been using since before he was born. Please put him away Judge.

  3. His series of arrest photos show the progression of his tattoo disaster. I guess that’s all he’s learned.

  4. It funny how all y’all got something to say don’t have the info on help these ppl at all

    • There needs to be more funding at the local, state and federal level for treatment. Addiction, including alcoholism is a disease. It affects the brain eventually and causes people to do things they would not otherwise do. I don’t know if addiction causes mental health issues or if mental health issues cause the addiction ( that’s beyond my college degree) but either way, putting an addict in jail/prison without treatment is 100% a failure. Not every treatment works the same for every addiction, and therein lies the problem. It is not a one size fit all solution, note is it a quick fix. We are so used to everything being fast and easy in todays society that we aren’t willing to be patient and understanding. The people who claim to be followers of Christ are the most hateful and least giving people I know, and these are the ones who are the most vocal about making sure these people are locked away, out of sight, out of mind, not worthy of help. It is usually recovered addicts on the street trying to reach people still struggling with this disease. They know the struggle, they know the pain. They know what it feels like to be looked down on for having this disease. It takes money, and educating ignorant people that this disease can affect anyone – rich or poor. Most of the time it doesn’t start off with taking illegal drugs. Some of these commenters on here just need to have someone to kick down on to make them feel better about themselves for some reason…..it is a common trait among a certain group…
