“Shoe Us The Love” Drive Underway In Clayton Through Nov. 18

CLAYTON – The Woman’s Club of Clayton is collecting gently used shoes through Nov. 18 as part of a fundraising effort aimed at helping local families facing unexpected emergencies.

The club’s “Shoe Us the Love” campaign has a goal of collecting 2,500 pairs of shoes and raising $1,000 for community needs that fall outside the organization’s regular budget.

Shoes of all sizes are being accepted, including men’s, women’s, children’s and baby shoes.

Club leaders said the project grew out of discussions about how to respond when local families face emergencies, including house fires and other unexpected hardships.

“Sometimes a family’s greatest need comes when they least expect it. We want to be able to lend a helping hand when those difficult moments happen,” said Karen Keeslar, president of The Woman’s Club of Clayton.

“What may seem like an ordinary pair of shoes to one person can become part of something extraordinary when our community comes together,” Keeslar said.

Donations may be dropped off at 848 Parkridge Drive, The Walk at East Village Clubhouse at 49 Baden Place, or 21 South Brookhollow Way, all in Clayton.

The deadline to donate is Nov. 18.

The Woman’s Club of Clayton is a volunteer organization involved in charitable giving, education, civic programs, arts and culture, environmental projects, and health and wellness initiatives.
