Smoother Drive Coming To I-87 In Eastern Wake County

RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Transportation awarded a more than $15 million contract to Fred Smith LLC of Raleigh for pavement rehabilitation for Interstate 87/ U.S. 64/ U.S. 264 from Rolesville Road to the Nash County line.

Pavement rehabilitation involves structural enhancement designed to extend the service life of existing pavement and improve structural capacity.

The project can begin as early as June 2026, with final completion expected summer of 2028.
