Top Baby Names In Johnston County For 2025 Announced

JOHNSTON COUNTY — Craig Olive, Johnston County Register of Deeds, has released the most popular baby names for 2025 births in the county. Liam claimed the top spot for boys, while Mia and Sophia tied as the most popular names for girls.

Liam has consistently ranked in the number one or two position for the past five years, while Mia and Sophia have both remained in the top five for several years.

“My staff and I always enjoy looking back at previous years to see the most popular names of babies born in our county,” Olive said. “It’s fascinating to see which names continually stay in the top spots while others just make a one- or two-time appearance.”

Olive also shared additional vital records statistics for 2025. His office recorded 1,237 marriage applications, 1,794 deaths, and 2,015 births in Johnston County. Olive noted that these numbers are trending upward, reflecting the county’s growth.

“As families continue to move to our great county, these statistics will continue to increase,” he said.
