At the request of residents who live in the Rose Manor area, Police Chief Keith Powell has received approval from the town council to place two one-way street signs at the entrance to the Rose Manor Subdivision off West Market Street.
Chief Powell says residents are concerned about vehicles using the exit side to enter into the subdivision from West Market Street. This would create a safety hazard for pedestrians and other vehicles.
The street is divided by a median and has only one entrance and one exit onto West Market, Chief Powell said.
The Smithfield Town Council approved the request to place the one-way signs at the entrance to the subdivision.
