Troopers Seek Help In Fatal Hit And Run Crash

State Hwy PatrolThe State Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the driver and vehicle that fatally struck and killed a 41-year old Spring Lake man as he walked along a rural road on Monday.

Around 3:30 a.m. troopers received a call from the Harnett County Sheriff’s Department after deputies discovered a deceased man lying on Sandfer Road just south of the Lillington city limits.

Troopers said James Robert Knox II, 41, and a female acquaintance were at the C&G Country Club located on US 401 when they left the establishment with a friend who offered them a ride. According to the female acquaintance and friend, an argument occurred between the woman Knox.

Knox got out the vehicle on Raynor McLamb Road and decided walk to the remainder of the way. A short time later the body of Knox was discovered by a passing motorist on Sandfer Road.
