$1.1M Bid Awarded For Water Line Project

County Commissioners have awarded a $1,143,537 water line construction project.

Five bids were received from contractors to install a new 20 inch water line under the US 70 Business / Bypass interchange in Clayton.   Ralph Hodge Construction Company of Wilson was the low bidder and was awarded the project.

Chandra Farmer, Director of Johnston County Utilities, said the project will require extensive boring and Ralph Hodge Construction has their own boring equipment, where other companies might have to rent the equipment.   Other bids for the project ranged as high as $1,646,880.

Commissioner Butch Lawter said he was happy to see the project come in under the projected estimated cost of $1,796,000.
