1,600 Gallon Sewage Spill Reported
CLAYTON – The Johnston County Public Utilities Department says 1,600 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled from a force main today (Thursday) at the Winston Road
crossing in the Neuse River Basin. The wastewater discharged into the White Oak Creek.
Officials said a private contractor damaged a force main owned and operated by Johnston County causing the spill.
The state Division of Water Resources has been notified about the incident. Anyone with questions can contact the Johnston County Public Utilities Department at 919-989-5075.
