2 Juveniles Killed, 1 Critically Injured In Wayne County Crash

GOLDSBORO – Two juveniles were killed and another critically injured in a single car crash Thursday morning in Goldsboro. Police said the victims are ages 12, 13, and 14.

Around 2:30am, Goldsboro police officers were on routine patrol in the Downtown area when they saw a vehicle traveling northbound on Center Street at a high rate of speed. The officers turned around to investigate, and the vehicle continued on Center Street at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle, however, due to its speed officers quickly lost sight of the car.

Other officers responded to the area of Center Street and Royall Avenue to attempt to locate the suspect vehicle. It was then discovered that the car had crashed and overturned onto the railroad tracks behind the Holly Street Warehouse at E. Holly Street and N. Center Street.

One occupant was found pinned inside the overturned vehicle. Goldsboro Fire Department and Wayne County EMS units responded to free the occupant, who was transported to Wayne UNC Healthcare and then transferred to ECU Health Medical Center (Vidant) in Greenville with life threatening injuries.

Two other occupants were ejected from the vehicle and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their next of kin was notified.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. No additional information was released.
