FOUR OAKS – Traffic quickly backed up on Interstate 95 in Four Oaks this afternoon (Thursday) due to a single vehicle accident. The wreck was reported around 3:30pm in the southbound lanes just south of the US 701 Exit.
A passenger car ran off the roadway, struck a small ditch and overturned. One person in the car was injured.
The wreck caused southbound traffic to quickly back up more than two miles. The interstate was fully reopened about an hour later.
The Four Oaks Fire Department, Four Oaks EMS, NC Highway Patrol and NC DOT Safety Patrol responded to the scene.
