SMITHFIELD – A couple is walking the entire length of the East Coast Greenway raising funds for a nonprofit organization.
Matt and Grace Grooms met at their best friend’s wedding in 2019, sold all their belongings in 2020, and completed their first Walk Across America in 2021.
Afterwards they turned a bus into their home as they traveled across the United States. Most recently they settled in Delaware.
In April 2023, Matt and Grace departed from Maine headed south for their 3,000 mile journey along the East Coast Greenway.
They wanted their walk to have an important purpose, so they selected a nonprofit, Elevate Youth, to help raise over $100,000. The organization encourages youth and families to go outside and walk, and enjoy the outdoors.
Saturday, Matt and Grace made it to Clayton and on Sunday spent the night in Smithfield. They heading out again today (Monday) on their great adventure.
They hope to reach Key West, Florida prior to Thanksgiving.
