CLAYTON – A Johnston County Grand Jury has indicted a Selma man for causing a deadly crash last month on Clayton Boulevard (Highway 70) in the Clayton city limits that claimed the life of a teenager.

On April 7, J. Guadalupe Moreno Nieves, 48, of the 4200 block of Highway 96 North, Selma, was indicted for felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, driving on a revoked license, failure to stop for a red light, and failure to reduce speed.
On March 14 around 2:30am, Nieves was operating a 2017 Chevy Silverado westbound on Clayton Boulevard and failed to stop at a stoplight near Town Centre Boulevard, Clayton Police said. His truck slammed into a 2019 Nissan Sentra that was pulling out of a parking lot driveway near Waffle House. The driver of the Nissan, 19 year-old Enamorado Mairena, was killed in the collision.
Court records revealed Nieves registered 0.17 on the Breathalyzer, more than double the legal limit of 0.08 in North Carolina.
Nieves has been in custody since the day of the fatal accident. He is currently in the Johnston County Detention Center being held under a $5 million bond.
He was drunk, ran a red light, no license, as far as I am concerned, DEATH PENALTY! Prayers for the family of the 19-year-old.
He should get life. A life for a life. His actions took the life of a innocent, young, beautiful person..I pray for the family of this sweet soul. May she rest in peace. To the person who killed her, I hope you never have one minute of peace..I hope you think about this everyday for the rest of your life.
Good! 5 million for a bond, rot in h*ll you selfish scumbag
