SELMA – Just before 10:00am Tuesday, a Johnston County EMS ambulance was transporting a patient to an area hospital when it was t-boned by a car at the intersection of Thanksgiving Fire and Jordan-Narron Roads.
The car overturned off the highway after impacting the much larger EMS vehicle.
The EMT, who would normally have been in the passenger’s seat, escaped injury because she was in the back of the truck with the patient. The driver of the EMS unit and the patient also escaped injury in the accident.
A North Side fire truck was behind the ambulance and quickly reacted to the serious-looking accident. A second ambulance was dispatched to complete the transport of the original patient to the hospital.
The driver of the passenger car was evaluated at the scene but not transported. He was cited for failing to stop at the stop sign and driving without a license.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
Maybe they should just close Thanksgiving Fire Road. No one that drives anywhere near it seems to be able to see stop signs.
we don’t need no more 4 or 3 way stops
Round abouts , like the one at 39 and 42 would probably prevent this.
I don’t get the disconnect. Do people not see the da*n intersection?
