Ex-Brunswick County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Charged After SBI Investigation

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. — A former Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant has been arrested following an investigation into the alleged misuse of government computer systems and automated license plate readers.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation said Daniel Heith Little, 47, was indicted by a Brunswick County grand jury.

Little faces six felony counts of accessing government computers, six misdemeanor counts of misuse of automated license plate readers and six counts of willful failure to discharge duties.

The SBI said the charges stem from the alleged improper use of government computer systems and automated license plate reader technology.

Little was released on an unsecured bond.

He is scheduled to make a first appearance in Brunswick County court.
