FedEx Driver Stole Dog That Later Died In His Delivery Truck, HCSO Says

HARNETT COUNTY – A FedEx driver has been arrested for allegedly stealing a dog that later died in his delivery truck. Kimani Joehon Marshall, age 44, of Fayetteville is facing charges.

On July 7, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) received a complaint of a larceny of a dog.

The investigation revealed that on July 3, a FedEx driver delivering packages in the area of US 421 South allegedly stole the dog, a French Bulldog named Tori.

The driver, identified as Kimani Marshall, reportedly continued along his route that day. Investigators believe that Tori died due to heat related issues as she traveled inside the FedEx truck as temperatures reached into the 90’s.

The remains of Tori were recovered on July 10 off Holy Mission Lane near Lillington.

Kimani Marshall surrendered himself to deputies on July 22 where he was charged with larceny of a dog, possession of stolen property and cruelty to animals. He was held on a $50,000 secured bond.

    • The name Kimani is gender-neutral. Its origin is found in the rich cultural heritage of the African Kukiyu people of Kenya. This moniker means “adventurous traveler.” The Jamaican icon and singer Bob Marley even gave this name to his son. My question for Kimani: WHY???

      • I’m grateful for your reply , I’m aware of the name Kimani . Went to school with one . He didn’t do nothing with his life low life SOME gender neutral names are acceptable. Some that aren’t are KIMANI Ashley and Ariel. Men need MANLY sounding names.

    • Exactly! Stealing someone else’s dog is crazy. Poor baby died in that hot truck. He could have just bought his own dog. I wonder if this his first time getting caught. Something tells me he has done this before.

  3. This type of person could be delivering packages, food, groceries, etc. to your home. This is a relatively mild crime on the spectrum. Think about that!

    • Mild crime? Cooking a vulnerable animal alive? I can imagine what else he would do. Nothing mild about this. It shows his character and who he is as a human being. Jail for 30 years

  7. That’s just plain murder. Shouldn’t be any different because I’m sure that the dog meant as much to his owner as a loved one would. Just when you think you’ve seen it all.

  8. Lock him up in a tin can in 90 degree weather! No water and no way to get air! That poor baby dying of a heat stroke is very inhumane. I pray he doesn’t have kids!

  11. I am a little concerned. I have stopped more than once to get a small, panicked dog out of the road before it was struck by cars or trucks. Did this man admit to stealing this dog? Also, if heat was that high and dog was panicked, the dog may have died because of what he had already been through. Putting up signs and asking in neighborhood is great but he was obviously not from this area as a delivery driver. Yes, he should have reported the dog to police when it died but again, not proof he intentionally killed it. Was the dog chipped? People said door or gate left open… Mistakes on everyone’s part. Prayers for folks who lost their furr baby. Also praying for this driver. He has most likely lost his job over this sad situation. Grace y’all.
