Former Benson Police Officer Charged With Rape, Kidnapping

BENSON, N.C. — A former Benson police officer has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including forcible rape and first-degree kidnapping, following an investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Peter Alphonso Blake, 33, of Clayton, was charged with one count of forcible rape, one count of first-degree kidnapping, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of involuntary sexual servitude, according to the SBI.

Authorities said Blake had been employed as a patrol officer with the Benson Police Department since Aug. 28, 2025. Wednesday morning, Blake was reportedly fired by the Benson Police Department then arrested by SBI agents.

Earlier this month, allegations of sexual assault were reported to the Benson Police Department. Police Chief Greg Percy immediately notified the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office. On April 8, District Attorney Jason Waller and Chief Percy formally requested the SBI to investigate the case.

Following what officials described as a thorough investigation by the SBI’s Capital District, agents obtained an arrest warrant for Blake. He was taken into custody Wednesday morning without incident.

Blake was transported to the Johnston County Detention Center.

In a statement, the Town of Benson said it is aware of the arrest and confirmed Blake is no longer employed by the department.

“The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is the lead agency in this case and any questions should be referred to them,” the statement said. “The Town of Benson is unable to comment further due to ongoing and future court proceedings.”

The SBI said the investigation remains ongoing and is encouraging anyone who believes they may have been a victim of a similar crime involving Blake to contact the Benson Police Department or the SBI.

Blake was an officer with the Raleigh Police Department from April 2022 to July 2023.

No additional details about the alleged offenses were immediately released.

  1. Who would think a police officer is capable of this lmao. What a piece of crap. Sounds like the whole ***** police department

    • The police department fired him. No cover up, no admin paid leave. Fired. You can’t judge a police department by one officer. Where do you work? I guarantee that wherever it is you have someone capable of the same thing. The point is that “bad apples” exist in every profession. Yes, some agencies would have put him on leave with pay until further notice, but the Benson Chief acted swiftly and obviously had enough evidence in conjunction with the SBI to make an example by saying that they don’t tolerate that behavior.

  2. I do wish they throw the book at him and it not disappear we are to trust and respect our officers and what they stand for.
