Homeless Woman Shot In The Neck


The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has identified a suspect following the shooting of a homeless woman in northern Johnston County.  Around 9:45am Sunday, deputies responded to an address on Alexis Way off Highway 96 North for a shooting.

Deputies discovered a 54 year-old homeless Florida woman and her daughter had been staying in a camper belonging to a male acquaintance.  The man allegedly shot the woman but miraculously the bullet only grazed her neck.  The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The suspect fled before officers arrived.  Warrants have been obtained for his arrest.  The suspect’s name was not released pending his arrest.
