Schneider Electric rep talks to JCC students about job and internship opportunities
Students in the air conditioning, heating and refrigeration technology program learned about career opportunities at Schneider Electric last week when a company representative visited the class.
Jerry Neely, operations manager for Schneider Electric, talked to the students about job and internship opportunities with the company as well as the importance of hard work and teamwork.
“You really have to have that teamwork mentality, ownership and accountability,” Neely said. “And you have to carry it through, make sure the ball doesn’t get dropped and have a positive attitude. You can teach competence to anybody who can learn but it is the culture you cannot teach. You have to come in with that strong teamwork attitude and be willing to do what it takes to get the job done.”
Neely said programs like JCC’s are good recruiting tools for Schneider. Over the past six months, the company has donated some $7,000 worth of building controls equipment and software to the college to help students learn to train on modern technology.
“I’m looking for good people to work at Schneider and these kinds of programs are few and far between in this area,” he said. “So its good news to see this and any time I can help get a program like this off the ground it helps with my future for hiring new qualified people and it also helps me inspire young people.”
JCC currently offers an associate degree, diploma, and six specialized certificates in air conditioning, heating and refrigeration technology.
