JCC Signs Updated Transfer Agreement With NC Wesleyan

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Johnston Community College has formalized an updated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with North Carolina Wesleyan University (NCWU) as part of its Wesleyan Works program.
The updated agreement strengthens the transfer pathway for JCC students, making it easier for graduates of the Health and Fitness Science Associate in Applied Science (AAS) program to continue their education at NCWU. The revised terms allow qualifying students who transfer into NCWU’s Exercise Science program to transfer a Biology credit that was not previously transferable.
Wesleyan Works is a transfer initiative designed to support community college students by allowing them to transfer up to 75 credit hours toward a bachelor’s degree. The program serves students earning degrees in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Teacher Preparation, Engineering, Applied Science, and Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), creating seamless academic progression opportunities.
Leaders from both institutions attended a signing ceremony at JCC.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to student success and workforce readiness,” says Dr. Vern L. Lindquist, president of JCC.
“By removing barriers and streamlining the transfer process, we are helping students achieve their educational and career goals,” added NCWU President Dr. Evan Duff.
“We are in the business of providing opportunities to students, and this agreement allows JCC students to get their bachelor and even master degrees in Exercise Science at Wesleyan,” added Dr. Meir Magall, FACSM, professor of exercise science at NCWU.
