Johnston County Candidate Forum Set For Sept. 12

CLAYTON, N.C. – Johnston County voters will have an opportunity to hear from candidates seeking public office during a nonpartisan candidate forum Sept. 12 in Clayton.

Johnston Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the Johnston County NAACP will host the forum from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church, located at 1691 Barber Mill Road.

Candidates in contested races serving Johnston County have been invited to participate.

“Our goal is to provide a fair and welcoming environment where voters can become better informed about the individuals seeking to represent them,” said the Rev. Brian R. Floyd, pastor of Johnston Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and the Rev. Dr. Christopher E. Kornegay, president of the Johnston County NAACP.

Organizers said each candidate will be given an opportunity to introduce themselves, discuss issues and answer questions.

The forum is open to the public.
