Johnston County Resident Announces Candidacy For US House

CLAYTON – On Wednesday, Matt Shoemaker of Johnston County officially announced his candidacy for North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District in the upcoming 2024 Republican primary.

With a background of serving our nation across the globe as a Naval Officer and Intelligence Officer, Shoemaker says his experience has instilled in him the vital significance of accountable leadership. He says the Republican primary in 2024 will mark a crucial turning point for North Carolina.

“As a son of the Tar Heel State, a conservative, and a Christian, we need fresh, bold action in Washington to accomplish the mission. I have seen among Democrats and Republicans alike that despite all the corruption, despite all that divides us, there is still the belief in the essential goodness of America. There is promise in this Country but we need competent, selfless leaders,” Shoemaker said in a press release.

“For too long we’ve had politicians more interested in making a point rather than making a difference. I’m here to bring accountability to the swamp and be the champion North Carolinians need representing them,” he said.

Shoemaker says his top priorities include reigniting our economy, replacing ideology with academic achievement in schools, reforming our partisan Justice Department, and restoring our Armed Forces.

Democrat Wiley Nickel of Cary currently represents North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District.

  1. We need new blood for the 13th district, Matt Shoemaker is what we need, no more cousins who are in love with lying Joey Biden. We need Conservatives who will stand up for values and morals.

  2. What a clown. Restore our military? Our military currently is the best in the world and we spend more than countries 2-7 combined. GET OUT OF HERE with that restore our military crap. Replace ideology in schools? As a former teacher I can safely say I never saw or heard of a teacher trying to press their views into students.

    • Wow…I’d recommend taking a closer look at the current state of both our military and school curriculum. As a former teacher, you should recognize the value of staying informed.

    • As a veteran of the military I can tell you that it is not what it once was. Yes our military has a large budget but its discipline and morals have declined severely in the last decade. Just because we have the technology to win a war doesn’t automatically mean we win. What if an enemy was able to disable all the technology and we had to go back to old fashioned warfare? I don’t think we would have such an easy time.

      • What an absolute joke of a comment. Our current batch in the military is fit to fight day or night. How these soldiers act are not any different than when I was in back in the early 2000s. People back then also said the same about us and if I remember correctly we waxed Iraq in three weeks. I am not worried about what happened afterwards bc the historically is not meant to nation build especially in a place like the Middle East. If you need to win a war I trust the men and women we have serving.

And School Curriculum? Stop watching Fox News the curriculum isnt as woke as you think it is clown.

  3. I like how all politicians use the dramatic language, “be the champion we need representing us.” I’d take a simple “I’m just a man with the hope of serving my fellow man with honor and dignity.” Sure I’ll vote for him but he sounds like another cookie cutter conservative.
