Motorists Face Two-Week Detour As US 70 Ramp Closes For Bridge Repairs

GARNER, N.C. — Drivers who travel through the Garner area should prepare for a two-week traffic shift beginning Monday as the N.C. Department of Transportation closes a busy entrance ramp to U.S. 70 for bridge work.

Beginning at 7:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, the ramp from N.C. 50 (Benson Road) to U.S. 70 eastbound will be closed. The closure is expected to remain in place until 7:00 a.m. on Aug. 10, weather permitting.

During the closure, motorists will be directed to use West Garner Road and New Rand Road as the official detour.

The project is part of ongoing bridge work in the area.

Because N.C. 50 serves as a major route between Johnston and Wake County, the closure could affect commuters traveling to Raleigh and Garner during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
