Barbara Jean Evans Hales, age 79, graduated to glory early Thursday morning, February 2, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born November 29, 1943 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late Wilbert Evans and Mildred Evans Aycock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Jackson Hales; brothers, Doug Evans, Billy Evans and Harvey Evans; and sister, Jo Ann Langston.
Barbara was a charter member of Riverside Baptist Church in Kenly. Barbara was a dedicated Godly Christian wife, mother, and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and her family rejoices that she is now healed and has seen her Savior’s face. Barbara retired from Johnston County schools after many years of service as a Teachers Assistant. She made many friends working in the school system and loved all her children she met throughout the years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 in Riverside Baptist Church in Kenly. Burial will follow in Bethany Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
Surviving are her daughters, Karen Ambrose and husband TJ of Kenly, Kathy Kennedy and husband Robbie of Selma and Kristy Barefoot and husband Jeff of Kenly; and grandchildren, Rebekah Ambrose, Ryan Ambrose, Caroline Barefoot and Jackson Barefoot.
