    Deceased Date: 08/09/2023

Billie Frances Ingram, 88, of Newton Grove, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Rolling Ridge Assisted Living in Newton Grove, NC.

Billie was born July 13, 1935, in Wayne County, NC to the late Raymond and Elma Jernigan. Billie was one of eight children born into a beautiful and loving family. She was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Billie lived most of her life in Wayne County where she raised her family of one loving daughter, Diane Giddens, and three adoring sons, Randy, Jerry, and Kenneth Ingram. Billie was employed for many years by Devil Dog Manufacturing Company in Newton Grove until its closure. Billie also did housecleaning. Billie enjoyed travelling with her sisters to the NC Mountains on their yearly mountain road trips. She and her sisters created many fond memories during their time together on these trips.

Later in life, Billie moved to Sampson County where she lived for six years with her daughter, Diane and son-in-law, Eddie. To everyone’s surprise, Billie’s sidekick became “Charlie,” Eddie’s Maltipoo. After declining health, she moved into assisted living. Billie lived the last three months of her life at Rolling Ridge Assisted Living in Newton Grove. While there, she received impeccable care from the staff. The family would like to give a special thanks to Betty Malon, Laura Anderson, Malinda Knight, and to all the staff “my loving girls” who provided love and care to Billie while there.

Billie was preceded in death by her sister, Annie Jewel McCullen; brothers, Dave, John (Tommy), and Kenneth Jernigan; and a granddaughter, Michelle Ingram. Billie is survived by her daughter, Diane (Eddie) Giddens; sons, Randy (Tina) Ingram, Jerry (Carolyn) Ingram, and Kenneth Ingram; grandchildren, Jeremy (Carolyn), Hali (Adam), Ray (Kristina), John (Renea), Danielle (Roy), Amber and Anthony; and loved great grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis (Glen) Futrell of Raleigh, Judy Jernigan of Wilson Mills, and Ted (Karen) Jernigan of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 12th from 10 to 11 a.m. at West and Dunn Funeral Home, Newton Grove, NC 28366. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.  in the chapel with Rev. Frank Sandy officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove.
