Brian Eugene Hughes, age 65, died Sunday morning, May 21, 2023, in UNC Johnston Health. He was born December 30, 1957, in Greene County, PA to the late Roy Laverne and Verena Elizabeth Strosnider Hughes. Brian was a drywall installer and finisher by trade, but in his free time, he enjoyed fishing, shooting targets and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Parrish Funeral Home.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Evelyn Dale Hughes; son, Casey Hughes and partner Kelly Pope of Pine Level; daughter, Ashley Hughes and partner Joe of Kenly; step-son, Michael Dale and wife Wendy of Princeton; sisters, Linda Leyman and Teresa Donell both of Ravenna, OH and 4 grandchildren, Ethan, Mikalah, Jalin and Isaac.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Johnston County Animal Shelter. Checks should be made out to Friends of Johnston County, 115 Shelter Way, Smithfield, NC 27577.
