Selma – Claudia Laland House, age 96 passed away peacefully in his home on October 31, 2022. He was born on October 28, 1926 in Johnston County North Carolina to the late Flethcer William House and the late Nellie Phillips House. In addition to his mother and father, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Capps House; daughter, Kathy House Stephenson; brothers, Ralph, Osbourne Lee, Lester, Hobart and Harold House.
A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Wednesday November 2, 2022 at 11 am with Rev. Marvin Ownsley officiating. The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 AM to 11 AM. Burial will follow the service in Selma Memorial Gardens.
Laland was an active member of Stevens Chapel Baptist Church since 1938, a veteran of World War II and life time member of the American Legion and VFW. After service in the US Army he worked with Busy Bee Oil Company then Sylvania and Data General until his retirement.
He is survived by daughter, Vickie House Fleming; son in law, Linwood Stephenson; grandchildren, Scott Stephenson and wife Wandy, Craig Stephenson, Kimberly Ehasz and husband Tye; great grandchildren, Lauren Stephenson, Gabrielle Stephenson, Whitley Stephenson, Colin Stephenson, Kaden Ehasz and one great great grandchild, Santana Peterson.
