    Edna Lee Ryals Blackwelder, 90, a resident of Greensboro, NC passed away on Tuesday March 8, 2022 at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC. She was born November 1, 1931 in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Byrd Ryals.

    Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the Williams Family Cemetery in Coats, NC officiated by Pastor Eddie White. She will lie in state at the Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 12:00PM until 5:00PM and Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 9:30AM-12:30PM for family and friends to pay their respects and sign her memorial book.

    Edna was a retired sales associate at Belk in Greensboro, NC. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for her love of flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed making crafts; always sharing them with those she loved. Edna was a member of Guilford College United Methodist Church, where she had many treasured friends.

    Edna was married to Johnny Richard Blackwelder, Sr., who preceded her in death on April 19, 1992. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Geraldine R. Moore, Grace R. Suggs and two brothers, Earl Ryals and Harold Ryals.

    She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kay Blackwelder of Greensboro, NC; two sons, J. Richard Blackwelder, Jr. and wife Nancy of Greensboro, NC, Robert L. Blackwelder and wife Gale of Ramseur, NC; brother, Donald Ray Ryals and wife Carol of Angier, NC; grandchildren, Lauren B. Matas, (Matt), Natalie Blackwelder, (fiancé’ Ben Wilson), Tabitha Gray, (Westley), Bobby Blackwelder, Stephanie Blackwelder; great grandchildren, Sawyer Matas, Hudson Matas and Isabelle Blackwelder; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Charlene McGrady, family friend and caregiver.
