Ettie Mae Blackman

    Ms. Ettie Mae Blackman, age 83 of Grantsboro, NC passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 at ECU Health, Greenville, N.C. with her loving family by her side. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Mt. Elam Baptist Church, Roseboro at 12:00 noon. The family will receive family and friends from 11 till 12 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. 

    Left to cherish her memories are her daughter: Syliva B. Upchurch and husband Michael, granddaughters: Jennifer Browne and husband Stephen, Heather A. Upchurch, Brittany U. Patterson and husband Randell, Ashley Hayes and husband Michael and Mackenzie Fenn. Sister, Ruthlene Edwards, sister-in-law, Judy Naylor and husband Roger, son-in-law: Pete Fenn and great grandsons: Lucas Browne and Maddox Browne. 

    She was selfless and “whatever you want she was good with it, happy with whatever you are happy with”. She loved fried pork chops, cherries, cherry pie, making baby biscuits, shucking corn, cooking, gardening, planting flowers, picking pecans, shelling peas and working in her yard. She was most passionate about youngins, babies and was very protective over them. She enjoyed watching sports, whether it was on t.v. or watching the children play ballgames. 

    She has always spent her life taking care of someone, even when she was in the nursing home, she took care of her roommate. 

    She was preceeded in death by her parents: Malah and Ada McLamb, husband: Henry B. Blackman, brothers: Carlie C. McLamb, Jerry McLamb and Robert H. McLamb. Daughter: Henritta B. Fenn and sister-in-law: Willa Gray Wilson.
