Retired Banker Florence Mozelle Dupree Hockaday’s love of life did not end with her death. Born on August 23rd, 1942 and married September 6th, 1958, Florence passed away on April 25th, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
The simple things in life brought great joy to Florence. She loved working in her gardens, boating and fishing at Kerr Lake.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Erwin Duke Hockaday, Jr.; sons, Timothy Duke Hockaday and his wife, Joy; David Erwin Hockaday and his wife, Deborah; sister, Myrtle Dupree Jones; grandsons, Christopher David and Brandon Duke Hockaday; great grandsons, Desmond Duke and Grayson Luke Hockaday.
Florence was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joseph Laster and Audrey Dean Dupree; her brother, Jodie Nathaniel Dupree and a sister, Rosa Lee Dupree Beasley.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at McLaurin Funeral Home. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Pinecrest Memorial Park with Rev. Lloyd Hargis officiating.
