Ida Lee Collier Brown, age 87, died Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at her home near Selma. Born August 8, 1938 in Wilson, County to the late Sammie Barnes and Jessie Lee Williamson Collier, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Edwin Brown; daughter, Vickie Brown Medlin and sister, Janiceteen C. Anderson.

A lover of music, Ida would often be asked to sing on a local radio station. She was well known in the community as a manager at the local Lowes Home Improvement, where she was knowledgeable in numerous departments and always willing to help a customer find what they were looking for. Following her retirement, she worked at a couple of the local Dollar General stores just to keep busy. When not working a public job, she enjoyed spending time will her family and friends or working in her yard, pruning her roses and such.

A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 10 am in the John Mincy Brown Cemetery near her home. The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery. Though there will not be a formal visitation, Mrs. Brown will lie in state Friday from 12 noon until 5 p.m. for those that would like to pay their respects.

Surviving are her loving husband of 69 years, Samuel A. Brown; son, Samuel A. Brown, Jr. and wife Jenny of Selma; daughters, Rhonda Brown Raper and husband Woody of Kenly and Angela Joy Brown Jones and husband Jerry of Selma; brother, Sammie Gene Collier and wife Colleen of Selma; sister, Bonnie Collier Johnson of Selma; step-sister, Marie Williamson of Selma; seven grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
