Jacquelyn Smith Johnson

    Clayton – Jacquelyn Smith Johnson, 90, passed away Wednesday June 15, 2022 at Smithfield Manor with her daughter and grand-daughter by her side. A native of Nash Co, she was the daughter of the late James and Annie Avery Smith.

    Jacquelyn was a farmer’s wife most of her life. Jacquelyn was member of Edgerton United Methodist Church in Selma, where she served as choir director for many years. Jackie was a talented musician and loved to play piano and sing. She loved to sew, garden and was active in the PTA when her children were younger. She loved and adored her grandchildren and was active in their lives.

    Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Johnson; a son, James L. Johnson and a great-grandson Jacob Axberg. She is survived by a daughter, Anna Johnson; son, Tim Johnson; four grandchildren, Jessica Axberg and husband John, Amy Singleton and husband Todd, Jamie Foy and husband Eddie and Katie Lane, also survived by 7- great-grandchildren.

    The family will have a service at a later date.
