James Carroll Knowles

    Mr. James Carroll Knowles age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Rolling Ridge Assisted Living in Newton Grove, N.C. surrounded by his loving family.

    His funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 20th at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Newton Grove at 3 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Roger Hill. Mr. Knowles will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery following his funeral service.

    He loved all his children, grandchildren, and his wife. He was married 52 years to the love of his life, Anna Lou.  He was a good father and grandfather. He loved fishing, farming, and riding on the golf cart, a true Carolina fan, football, baseball, and he loved going to his grandchildren’s ballgames. He loved his church and loved attending when he was able. “No one could outwork him”, he was loved by all that knew him.

    Left to cherish his memories are his children, son Charles Knowles (Wendy), Linda Westbrook (Austin) and Judy Smith (George). Daughter-in-law Frances Knowles and son-in-law, Jeff Adkins. Grandchildren, Anna Knowles, Daniel Knowles, Jeremy Adkins (Kaitlin), Justin Adkins (Sierra) Kathy West (Tommy), Belinda Adkins, Beth Strickland (Ethan), Shannon Smith (Joe) and Matthew Knowles. Also, Eleven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lou Knowles, sons DC Knowles and David Knowles. A great granddaughter Faith Dawn West.

    The family wishes to express their thanks to the Staff of Rolling Ridge Assisted Living, Gentiva Hospice and all his many friends at Rolling Ridge for the love and great care that was extended to Daddy during his stay.

    The family will receive family and friends at the home of Judy Smith, 73 Trail End Lane, Newton Grove, NC.
