Laura Ellen Woodard Edwards, 89, passed away at her home on Friday, September 15, 2023. Born in Johnston County on December 3, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Linwood B. Woodard and Nancy Carter Woodard. In addition to her parents, Laura is preceded in death by her husband, Willard F. Edwards; sons, Eugene Edwards and Ronnie Edwards; and brother, LB Woodard and Roy Woodard.
Laura loved spending time outdoors. She could often be seen working in her garden picking weeds and prune her beautiful flowers. When not working in the garden, Laura loved to be fishing. Nothing pleased Laura more than spending time with her family. Her love for them knew no bounds and each moment spent together was a cherished memory she would hold onto.
A graveside service to celebrate Laura’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Kenly Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at the home of her daughter, Billie Jean Carter.
Laura is survived by her daughter, Billie Jean Carter and husband, John; grandchildren, Wesley Carter and Ronnie Carter; and brother, Pat Woodard.
